June 2026
Every summer in Naples we hear the same sentence in the chair: “It looked perfect for two weeks and then it just went brassy.” It is almost never the color that failed. It is what happened between appointments.
Rinse before you swim, not just after
Hair absorbs whatever touches it first. Soak it with clean water before you get in the pool or the Gulf and there is far less room left for chlorine and salt. It is thirty seconds and it is the single cheapest thing on this list.
Wash less, and cooler
Hot water opens the cuticle and lets pigment escape. Lukewarm water and two or three washes a week hold a color far longer than daily hot showers with the gentlest shampoo on the shelf.
Treat UV like heat styling
A hat on the boat is not vanity, it is color insurance. Direct midday sun oxidises pigment the same way a flat iron does, only slower and every single day.
Ask for a color that fades well
This is the part most people never think to request. When we plan balayage from $160 or color from $95, we choose depth and placement knowing your hair will lift in this climate — so the grow-out stays soft instead of turning into a line you have to fix in six weeks.
Book the gloss, not the redo
A gloss between full color appointments costs a fraction of starting over and takes a fraction of the time. If your ends look dull in month two, that is the appointment to make — not a whole new color in month three.
